Finding Myself in Beauty and Fashion

My name is Ryley but you may know as SpinaBeautybyRy. What you may not know is that I have a disability called Spina Bifida.

I have Spina Bifida myelomeningocele along with Scoliosis, Hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, and neurogenic bladder/bowel. I have had 12+ surgeries which made it very hard to be confident in the way I look until I discovered makeup when I was in the 8 grade.

I instantly became fascinated with all of the different shades and products and learning how to use them. Eventually, I figured out new ways to create thousands of looks and decided to start posting it on Instagram. It opened so many doors, not only in makeup but in fashion as well!

I was asked to model for a adaptive jewelry brand called Clipondra and was signed to Gamut management in 2021. In 2022 I was asked to be an ambassador for many adaptive brands and companies like Trufaces, Open Style Lab and Liberare. It even gave me the opportunity to be in a Runway of Dreams adaptive fashion show at Kent State University. I was hand picked and got to be in the show and help run the club which I will get the opportunity to do again soon! I was even asked at my day program to teach makeup and sign language classes to help other women with disabilities be successful in the work force. I had the opportunity to run self advocacy programs at my program as well to help others with disabilities find themselves in makeup and fashion.

So, I decided to make a name for myself which is SpinaBeauty because I am not going to let my disability stop me from showing the world my talent in beauty and fashion nor will I let it stop me from helping young girls and women like me finding themselves in fashion or beauty!
