The Best Bras for Arthritis- My Personal Favorites (and ones I hate)

My name is Emma, I'm a bra expert specializing in bras for women over 50. Today, I'll be summarizing my video above for all the best bras to put on for women with arthritis.

These front-closure bras have been tested and warn my thousands of women with arthritis in their hands, wrists, shoulders, and spine.

I will only be reviewing front-closure bras that are wireless as in my experience, these are necessary.

RANKING CRITERIA:

1. Easy to put on: Easy front-closures for both limited shoulder mobility & hand dexterity
2. Comfortable: This is a MUST! No poking wires or uncomfy seams. Must be comfy all day
3. Support: Wireless lift for no sag!

1st Bra I Tried: Underworks Arthritis Bra with Hook and Loop Closure

☆☆

This is the first bra I tried as it ranked high for "Arthritis bra." However, this front-closure bra is made with velcro (which is not my favorite). While sewing construction was great, nice soft fabric, I hated that when putting the bra on, I could feel the front fastening of the velcro on my body.

Ultimately, the wirefree design was nice but the velcro was so uncomfortable I cannot rate this highly. It was not that supportive for above a DD bust. For any older woman with skin sensitivity, this is not the bra for you.

Although very comfortable and, of course, front-closure, it was not a convenient front-closure bra.

2nd Bra I tried, The Winner: Comfort Sculpt Bra, Liberare - $54

This front-closure bra from Liberare was specifically designed for older women with arthritis and you can tell in every detail! It's clearly the best front opening bra for older women on this list.

  • Material: The material is unbelievably soft. It coats the fonrt-closure too, so you can't even feel that there is a front-closure. The seamless knit is buttery soft.
  • Easy-On Front-Closure for Older Women: This easy-on front-closure actually has a magnetic glide with make it perfect for older women with arthritis in their wrists or hands who might hate snapping up a bra or aligning Velcro. That said, it's not the magnet that holds you, it's the locking mechanism! It's a brilliant front-closure bra that is incredibly easy to put on
  • Comfort: Thanks to just how soft the material is, this front closure bra is by far the comfiest. It is even comfortable for bigger bust sizes (although it is not the most supportive)

Support: This bra was not SUPER supportive (granted it still lifts saggy breasts, but does not do full support), but this brand does have a fully supportive wireless bra that I love but it's only for bigger bust sizes. That front-closure bra is also great and just as easy on.

SIZE RANGE: CUPS A-DDD (F), BANDS 34-44

3rd Bra I Tried: Fruit of the Loom Women's Front Close Builtup Sports Bra Front Hook - $23.00

This front-closure bra was pretty sleek and elegant. Although i don't highly recommend the front-hooks for anyone with wrist and shoulder pain (there were 5 of them which can be quite a struggle to line up and hook). This bra is reletively supportive (for cups under DD) but does the job. Sewn great, good quality.

I would only recommend this front-closure bras for seniors under a DD cup who do not have pain in their fingers or wrists. If your arthritis is only in your spine and neck or shoulders, you can probably find a way to do to the hooks.

4th Bra I Tried: Florata Front Zip Bra

★☆

This front-closure bra for seniors is one for women who love zippers. I don't personally love zippers, when I look for front-closure bras I prefer something that doesn't create a full uniboob. One thing zippers can often do it have full support.

SUPPORT: This bra is probably the most supportive on the list. However, it  definitely is a sports bra. So get ready for the material to feel like a synthetic sports bra.

It can be difficult to fully wrangle into this bra if you have arthritis in your fingers or wrists. Again, I would recommend a different front opening bra for that.
