Best Bras for Big Busts and Plus-Sized Women Over 50
Warm greetings bra-enthusiasts! I am excited to share an experiment I did recently to find the best bra for my 44DD bust.
Finding the best bra with a big bust can feel like a treasure hunt, especially for those of us over 50. As a woman with big bust, I know the unique challenges we face: we want support, comfort, and something that doesn’t make our aging joints scream in protest!
It’s not just about holding everything in place; we need bras that accommodate our changing bodies while keeping us comfortable throughout the day. After trying countless options, here are my top three bras that I believe stand out for big busts and plus-sized women.
Bra 1: Playtex Seamless Wireless Bra
Sizes I tried: 44DD, 46DD
Cost: $64.99
★☆☆☆☆
Pros:
I wanted to start my bra search with a classic. This bra offered great wireless support due to the seaming on the cups. I appreciated the wide straps as they helped distributed my bust's weight and reduce pressure on my back. Unlike some reviewers on the website, I did't mind that the cups gave a more "natural" breast shape (ie coning) but that's a matter of preference!
Cons:
As I'm getting older, comfort simply takes more precedence as I think about dressing. The material was a bit scratchy and the band was incredibly tight. I sized up to the 46 band as after a few minutes, the 44 band had began to leave a mark on my skin. I couldn't wait to take it off! Additionally, as a plus size woman with a big bust and aging joints, twisting behind my back to hook my bra isn't ideal.
Reaching around for back hooks isn't exactly ideal as a 44DD
Bra 2: Bali Wire-Free Bra
Size I tried: 2X
Cost: $48.00
★★★☆☆
Pros:
This bra is so stretchy I could have easily fit the XL, although I tried on the 2X. It features a soft, stretchy fabric that moves with you, which is especially nice for those of us with sensitive skin. It’s wireless, providing a gentle lift while allowing for easy movement. Plus, it’s available in a variety of sizes and colors, making it versatile for any wardrobe.
Cons:
In full transparency, I have sloping shoulders, so the lack of adjustability on the straps was a drawback. I just couln't get them as tight as I needed without slipping off. Also, it did not provide the same level of support as some more structured options and was a little difficult to pull over my head.
Bra 3: Liberare Everyday Easy On Bra
Size I tried: 44DD, 42DDD
Cost: $57.60 (with a coupon)
★★★★★
Pros:
Let me tell you, the Liberare Everyday Easy On Bra is a game changer! This wireless bra is made from incredibly silky fabric that feels fantastic against your skin. What gave this style a gold star in my book though was the front claps which made it so much easier to put on and take off—no more fumbling behind my back! The sides just glided together and locked, just like that! OVerall, the Liberare Everyday Easy On Bra gave me an everyday level of wireless lift and support, plus the back band has an adjustable clip (not those tiny hooks) that let me make the band a bit more relaxed.
Cons:
One thing to note is that, while it’scomfortable, it does not have padded cups (it's just lined). I don't mind this as much as I typically wear looser-fitting tops, but would definately love to see this added in the future for us 50+ gals.
In a Nutshell
When it comes to finding the best bras for big busts and plus-sized women over 50, comfort and support are key, but so is considering our needs as we age. Remember, it’s all about what makes you feel good!
Don’t hesitate to try different styles until you find the perfect fit for your unique shape. Happy bra shopping, neighbor!
