The Best Bra for Shoulder Pain and Shoulder Injuries
As a 45-year-old woman dealing with shoulder pain from a fall, I found that dressing became difficult. I couldn't lift my arm above my head, twist, or reach behind without causing pain, and I realized that putting on my bra in the morning was something I started to dread. I needed to find a solution. As a woman with a 38D bust, not wearing a bra was not an option, so I scoured the internet. Here's what I found.
1. Fruit of the Loom Front Close Builtup Sports Bra ❌
Hoping to reduce strain on my injured shoulder, I chose the Fruit of the Loom Front Close Builtup Sports Bra ($23 for three). It had a front closure, so there was no need to reach behind. The cotton fabric was soft, but the lack of support was disappointing. Worse, the front hooks were difficult to maneuver with limited shoulder mobility. If you need a bra for shoulder pain, this one isn’t ideal. Alas, I knew front-closure worked.
2. Silverts Front Snap Closure Bra ❌
Next, I tried the Silverts Front Snap Closure Bra because of its wireless design and easy snap buttons. Initially, it felt comfortable, but the snaps didn’t hold well—especially for my 38D size. I needed a bra for shoulder injury that wouldn’t dig into my shoulders or require constant adjustment, so this one didn’t make the cut. This bra used snaps instead of hooks, an easier design but not strong enough for my bust!
3. Bali Comfort Revolution Bra ❌
The Bali Comfort Revolution Bra caught my attention with its magnetic front closure, which meant no more struggling with hooks. While it was easier to put on, it lacked the support I needed. The front-adjusting straps were a plus, but overall, it wasn’t the best bra for shoulder pain due to its minimal support. However, it allowed me to realize that I needed front closure, and I loved the idea of a magnetic front closure—it meant I could put on a bra in seconds.
4. Winner: Liberare Everyday Easy-On Bra ✅
After weeks of trial and error, I went to see my occupational therapist, who recommended the Liberare Everyday Easy-On Bra. Skeptical—as I’d never heard of the company before—I tried it. I was in so much pain, I had to! It’s designed for people with limited mobility and comes in a variety of sizes, from A to G cups. It features soft, sensory-friendly fabric and five magnetic closures for a secure fit.
Putting it on and taking it off was instantly effortless, even with my injured shoulder. The magnets mean the two sides of the front-closure bra glide easily together and interlock—super strong. It had larger straps that were easy on my shoulder and a back adjuster so I could adjust the band for a perfect fit.
I actually purchased the Comfort Seamless Sculpt Bra too—it looked so soft, something I could wear around the house and lounge in. I've now got my eye on the Smooth-On T-Shirt Bra too, very similar to the Everyday Easy-On Bra, but with a molded cup—it looks so good under a T-shirt.
If you're struggling with shoulder pain or mobility issues, I highly recommend the Liberare Everyday Easy-On Bra. It’s supportive, comfortable, and incredibly easy to use. Don’t let a shoulder injury keep you from feeling comfortable—this bra makes all the difference!
