The Bra Journey: From Her 50s to Now
My mom’s relationship with bras changed as she aged. In her younger years, she could wear just about anything—wires, lace, sports bras—but when she hit her 50s, menopause changed everything.
Her skin became more sensitive, and she developed Carpal Metacarpal Syndrome (CMS), which affected the dexterity in her hands. Her old bras with back hooks and underwires became unbearable. “Comfort first” became her mantra.
By her 60s, her needs shifted again. Poor posture meant underwires dug painfully into her ribcage. Back hooks were impossible to manage, and her CMS made it difficult to fasten even front hooks.
So, the mission began: we needed to find something soft, wireless, easy to put on, and supportive enough for her DD cup size.
