The Best Bras for Older Women: My 5 Top Picks

Finding the best bras for older women sometimes feels impossible. As a 67-year old retired nurse, I don’t just have personal experience with that challenge – I’ve seen countless older ladies struggle with bras that are too clinical, too uncomfortable, or too difficult to wear.

I tried dozens of bras. Finally, I’ve found some real winners, and I’m going to share them with you right here.

5 of the Best Bras for Older Women

You’ll notice I haven’t given all of these bras amazing scores – but they all have merit in their own way – some of these bras for elderly ladies just didn’t have what I needed but they might be fine for you – so I wanted to include them all.

My First Bra I Tried: The Bliss Bra by Harper Wild

★★☆☆☆

During my time as a nurse, I saw a lot of older ladies that mostly relied on bralettes, rather than “typical” bras. They often told me they were easier to get on when they couldn’t handle clasps, and they didn’t have wires – so that upped the comfort factor.

The Bliss Bra by Harper Wild was recommended by a Good Housekeeping blog I read, so I decided to give it a try – even though I’m not a huge bralette fan.

I like a few things about this bra. It comes in a lot of colors (including some great limited edition options), and it’s definitely very comfortable. The fabric is breathable, but still thick enough to offer a decent amount of coverage.

The sizing is a little tricky though – as there aren’t any real back and cup sizes to choose from.

The major issue I had with this bra – and the reason for the low rating, is that you have to pull it over your head to get it on and off. The material’s pretty tight, which means I often struggle if I’m having shoulder pain. If that’s not an issue for you, this could be a good option – at least there aren’t any clasps to worry about.

My Second Attempt: Silverts Adaptive Front Snap Bra

★★★☆☆

Since bralettes and sports bras didn’t seem like a great option for me, I decided to shift tactics – looking at front opening bras for seniors instead. Some of my friends had tried these before, and said they were the best bras for older women, like me, who struggle with back clasps.

I didn’t want to deal with annoying hooks, so the Silverts snap closure bra seemed like a good choice for my arthritic fingers. Plus, it was on sale when I bought it – bonus!

This bra was definitely easier to get on than the previous option, and it still didn’t have any wires – which was a plus for me, since I hate the feeling of wires pinching my skin.

The trouble was the snap buttons on the front didn’t hold very well – particularly when I was bending or moving around. They would just pop open the moment I reached for a book. That might not be an issue if you don’t have a larger bust (I’m a DD) – but it was a deal breaker for me.

Plus, honestly, I didn’t like the design of this bra either. It looks like a bra for elderly ladies – something designed to be practical, not pretty.

My Third Attempt (better, but not quite!) Bali Women’s Comfort Revolution

★★★★☆

I continued my search with a focus on front closure bras for older women – because that seemed like the best pick (even with the button issue I encountered above). The Bali Women’s Comfort bra has a single snap closure, which seemed a lot sturdier than a row of buttons, so I gave it a try.

I have to say, this bra is definitely a lot more attractive than the previous two – more like the standard bras I’ve been wearing for years. Plus, it had moulded cups, which give a little extra support.

I also liked the fact that it came with shoulder straps you can adjust at the front – which saves my aching shoulders. The problem was, the clasp still lost it strength over time, and there were still wires around the cups, which poked into my ribs after a while.

I’d say this is the kind of bra for mature women you can get away with wearing occasionally – but you definitely won’t want to wear it all day and night.

My Fourth Attempt: Liberare Comfort Sculpt

★★★★★ (4.75 stars. Almost 5 stars but not quite)

I almost stopped searching after discovering the Liberare Comfort Sculpt bra. It was recommended to me by a former colleague from work, who raved about the buttery soft material and smooth design. Plus, it came in a lot of different sizes – which was perfect for me.

This is definitely one the most comfortable bras I’ve ever tried. I wear it constantly – day and night. There are no annoying seams rubbing against your skin, no wires, and the extra-wide straps really make me feel supported.

The real stand-out feature, though, is the magnetic front closure. I don’t mean the whole bra is held together by magnets – that’d be crazy. But the magnets guide the clasps into place easily, so you don’t have to pinch and tug yourself.

There’s even a set of handy finger loops stitched in to help you. This was the first bra that I thought was actually comfortable, and secure enough to make me feel confident when I was out and about.

The only tiny downside is that it didn’t feel quite as supportive as some of the other bras I tried, which is why I moved onto my winner.

Here is how it works.

My Winner Bra: Liberare Everyday Easy-On

★★★★★

After trying my first Liberare bra, I was convinced they really did offer the best bras for older women, so I decided to give another product a try – and I’m glad I did.

The Everyday Easy-On Bra delivers all of the same benefits as the Comfort bra I mentioned above. You still get the magnetic front closure, the wireless, and super-soft design, and the front-adjusting straps. Plus, there’s a handy 4-inch back adjuster too (great for bloat days).

But, thanks to some carefully placed seams, this bra delivers a little boost that makes me feel more supported too. It’s the perfect answer to absolutely everything I’ve been looking for.

If you’re looking for a bra that really makes you feel comfortable, confident, and ready for anything, the Everyday Easy-On is a natural go-to.

I’d even recommend grabbing it alongside some of Liberare’s other best-sellers, like the Comfort Sculpt, and the Smooth-On t-shirt bra (ideal for ladies with larger busts).

So, there you have it – five of the best bras for older women I’ve personally tried myself, and ranked just for you. All of these bras have great elements to them, but if you really want a bra that’s incredibly easy to wear, comfortable, and supportive, stick with Liberare.

I don’t think I’ve ever found a clothing company with a bigger impact on my life. Finally, I can get dressed (and undressed) without the fuss.
