The Best Magnetic Bras for Easy-On Dressing

Honestly, bras aren’t things that change very often. I used fit ladies for a living, and beyond occasionally seeing a company experiment with a new strap option or material, it was pretty much the same thing year after year. So I’ll admit I was a bit “late to the party” when I discovered there were actually some brands out there doing things really differently these days.

Clasps, in particular, have gotten a serious makeover. Most of the alternatives to the standard hook-and-eye closures I’m used to aren’t that great. I don’t want Velcro near my breasts, and snap-close buttons just aren’t reliable unless you have a tiny bust.

Magnetic bras, though, are totally different. I actually think they might be the future of underwear. Not because every magnet bra I tried was great (a few are just expensive gimmicks), but because after a few tests, I found what are truly the best bras I’ve ever worn, made by a magnetic bra company.

The Truth About the Best Magnetic Bras (What They Need)

I was just as skeptical about magnetic bras to begin with as I was about all of those other “alternate closure” options brands rave about. If you feel the same way, I don’t blame you. When I’m shopping for bras, I’m not just shopping for exciting features like magnets.

The good news is that the best magnetic bra will win you over with all the extras you want to, like:

  • Support without wires: My granddaughter tells me wireless bras are all the rage these days, but honestly, I’ve preferred them for years. I think anyone looking for comfort bras for seniors knows that wires are a no-go.
  • Soft, forgiving fabric: Whatever your age, a bra shouldn’t feel like something you can’t wait to take off. Luckily, most bra companies get that these days, so you can expect to find plenty of seam-free, smooth, and buttery soft materials.
  • Comfortable, adjustable straps: Weirdly, this was something I struggled to find with the first few magnetic bras I tried (more on that in a minute). Still, I think being able to adjust your bra straps is important.
  • Flexible options: Yes, you can get them these days! Bras that convert into racerbacks with a J-hook, or come with back extenders in case you’re feeling a bit bloated.
  • A reliable closure: Not just something held together with magnets, something that’s easy to close, and sturdy enough that you’re not worrying about your bra popping open.

My Search for the Best Magnetic Bra: The Ones That Didn’t Work

I wanted to share some early “misfires” with you, just in case you’ve tried magnetic options before and felt disappointed. After all, I’ve been there, too.

There are three in particular that let me down straight away:

  • The Flexverse Magnetic Closure Bra
  • The Hanna Broer Lily Bra
  • Anita’s Meggie Magnetic Bra

All of these look impressive, but they suffer from the same annoying problems.

First, they’re all super expensive. The Meggie bra is over $100, and the other two are pretty close to that number. I don’t mind spending a little extra on the best bra around, but that feels like way too much. Then there’s the closure itself.

The Meggie bra relies almost exclusively on magnets, so if they lose their strength, you’re done for. There are no extra clips to keep you secure. The Lily bra has a tiny magnetic closure that honestly doesn’t feel safe at all. Then, the Flexverse option has so many big clips that it feels like you’re wearing a corset.

The other major problem was the straps. Two out of the three options I mentioned here don’t give you any adjustability at all, so if your fit’s off, there’s nothing you can do about it. The Lily (the only one with adjustable straps), has straps so thin they feel like wire.

On top of all that, none of the designs really worked for me. None offered much support. The Lily gives you barely any coverage, and both the Flexverse and Meggie bras felt thick, bulky, and unflattering.

If I’d only tested these three, I would have assumed a good magnetic bra didn’t exist. Fortunately, I ended up finding Liberare.

Discovering the Best Magnetic Bra Company: Liberare

I nearly gave up on finding a great magnetic bra after wasting almost $300 on the first test, but a friend of mine pointed me to Liberare, describing them as an adaptive clothing company that really understands what women like me need.

I wasn’t convinced, but eventually, I gave them a go. I’m glad I did.

Liberare doesn’t do magnetic bras like anyone else I’ve seen. You’re not just getting magnets; you’re getting a clever closure that uses magnets to guide the sides of your bra together. Then a secure fastening system locks everything together. I never worry about the bra opening while I lean forward to pick something up or reach into a cupboard.

It’s not just the closure that Liberare does better than everyone else (in my opinion), either. The straps are actually adjustable on most of their bras (some even convert into a racerback). You get ultra-soft, comfortable material that feels great against your skin, and still breathes.

Then there’s the support. Some bra styles offer more than others, but in all of the ones I tried, I don’t feel like I’m sagging, or “spilling out” anywhere.

Liberare even does the little stuff well, like giving you back adjusters on certain styles, designs that survive regular washing, and finger loops to help arthritic hands.

The Best Magnetic Bra: 3 Options I Love

I’ve personally bought three bras from Liberare up to now, and I love all of them equally (for different reasons). If you’re shopping for one yourself, here’s what I think about each option. Hopefully, it’ll help you make the right choice.

Everyday Easy-On Bra: Ideal for Anyone

Adaptive bras

If you’re hunting for the best magnetic bra that’ll suit just about anyone, the Everyday Easy-On is an easy recommendation. It gives you just enough support without too much structure, and it’s a great introduction to just how great the magnetic fastener really is (particularly when you combine it with the finger loops).

There are some other great things about this bra, too. It’s one of the options that comes with a back adjuster (if you need it), and the straps are adjustable from the front, so you don’t have to twist. Like all of Liberare’s bras, it’s wire-free, soft enough that you’ll forget you’re wearing it, and reasonably stylish too (it looks great under anything).

Comfort Seamless Wireless Bra: The Gentle Option

Best bra for disability

This is the one I usually recommend if you struggle with chronic pain, or you just need something a little softer. You still get the amazing magnetic closure here, but the shoulder straps are a bit wider, which feels fantastic if you struggle with pain around your joints.

The Comfort Sculpt also has a great smoothing effect, which is fantastic if you don’t want your bra to be the stand-out part of your outfit. Again, there are no annoying wires, and the material stays soft even after dozens of washes. Probably the best part? You can sleep in this bra without getting annoyed and changing in the middle of the night.

Wireless Smooth-On T-Shirt Bra: For More Shape

Easy to put on bras for elderly women

If you’re a little worried about sagging or you have a bigger bust, the Wireless Smooth-on T-shirt bra is probably the best one for you. Don’t worry, there are no wires here either, but you do get a little more structure around your bust to help lift and shape things.

This one looks absolutely fantastic under a dress or a fancy outfit if you’re going somewhere special. It also gives you more coverage around the sides to reduce “spillage”. Plus, you can convert the straps into a racerback style with a little hook. This is a bit more structured than the other two, so I wouldn’t wear it to sleep, but it’s great when you want to look like you made a real effort.

Quick Note: There are Options for Younger Ladies, Too!

The three magnetic bras above are my favorites from Liberare, but I did want to point out that there are other magnetic options too; they just didn’t match my style exactly. The standard Liberare bra is absolutely gorgeous if you like a little lace and a bit more of a plunging style. I’ve bought one for my daughter (and she absolutely adores it).

There’s also the convertible plunge bralette, which still has a fantastic, magnetized front closure and front strap adjusters. The straps are just a little thinner (and convertible if you want to change the style). I think it’s fantastic for younger girls who want to feel stylish. It just feels a little too “sexy” for me as a 65-year-old woman.

A Few Things I Learned While Figuring Out These Bras

Now, I didn’t get everything right on the first try when I started my search for the best magnetic bra (obviously). So I wanted to give you a few final tips.

My first and most important bit of advice? Don’t get sucked in by the magnetic marketing. Magnets are really helpful when they’re used to help you close your bra, but they shouldn’t make it less comfortable, or be responsible for holding everything together entirely.

Once you figure that out, my advice is really just the same as any bra fitter’s:

  • Measure yourself again: I put this off for years. I thought I knew my size because it hadn’t changed much when I was younger. Then I finally pulled out a tape measure and realized my body had its own plans. Getting the right size made the biggest difference in comfort.
  • Check the return rules before you buy anything: Some bras looked promising on the screen and felt wrong the second I put them on. Being able to send a few back kept the process from turning into an expensive guessing game.
  • If you have a medical device, ask your doctor: Magnets are wonderful when they help you get dressed, but they don’t belong near certain implants. Better to ask first than worry later.
  • Buy one before you buy a stack: I got excited after I started imagining what magnetic bras could do for me and almost ordered a bunch straight away. I’m glad I didn’t. Find out what works first, then buy more from the same brand.

Also, don’t let the most important things slide. A magnetic bra isn’t great on its own. It’s only amazing if it’s also comfortable, adjustable, and designed for your body.

The Best Magnetic Bra Does Exist

I never expected bras to become something I had to put real thought into. They were just there for most of my life. Then my body started changing, and things like “magnetic” bras promising me that I’d have an easier time getting dressed in the morning really started to catch my attention.

Truth is, not all the magnetic options out there are great (I found that out for myself), but some really make a difference to your life. Liberare has convinced me once and for all that magnetic bras can be revolutionary, if they’re designed with a little thought.

If you’re skeptical, give one a try. I bet you’ll fall in love.
