I'm Lucy and I'm a size 38DD. I'm a journey to find the best wireless front-closure bra.
After trying dozens of brands over the years in search of some bra that won't pinch, dig, poke, and prod all day long, I finally found a few wireless bras that I loved and wore for many years.
As I'm now 65 and have a twinge of shoulder pain and arthritis in my fingers, I began looking for front-closure wireless bra (a bit easier to put on),
Genuine question: who on earth decided it was a good idea to add wires to bras? Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate a little support in my bra. But wires are just torture. They pinch, dig, poke, and prod all day long.
That’s why I started a personal quest – to find the best wireless front-closure bra out there. A comfort bra for older ladies like me that’s supportive, soft, and actually easy to put on without the hassle.
My Quest for The Best Wireless Front Closure Bra
Once, I just picked bras based on how they looked, or how confident they made me feel. Now, I want front-hook bras with no underwire that don’t irritate my skin, hurt my hands, or pinch anything.
If you haven’t tried them already, front-closing bras are a real life-changer (especially when you’re a little older). They’re not just easier to fasten, I think they give you a better level of support too. If you can combine a front-closure with a wireless design, you’re usually onto a winner.
But there are definitely some options out there that are better than others.
Attempt Number 1: Silverts Adaptive Front Snap Bra
★★☆☆☆
I actually bought the Silverts Adaptive “Front Snap” bra a while ago, when I was recovering from a rotator cuff injury. Their clothing is marketed toward older adults and people with mobility issues – so I was hopeful they’d give me something reasonably simple and comfortable.
The good news is that there aren’t any wires, but there’s also virtually no support on offer either. The waist band rides up when I’m wearing it, and the material is very thin. I don’t mind that from a breathability perspective, but I don’t feel very “covered”.
Another thing – this bra does have a front closure, which relies on buttons rather than clasps. I thought that would be a good thing at first. Clips can be a nightmare for my fingers. But the snaps aren’t very secure. If you twist to grab something behind you, something is likely to pop open.
It actually made me anxious to move around, and that’s the last thing I want from a bra. I ended up relegating it to “laundry day only” status.
Attempt Number 2: Fruit of the Loom Front-Close Sports Bra
★★☆☆☆
Since one of my biggest issues with the Silverts bra was how “flimsy” it felt, I thought a sports bra would be a better pick. I’m used to sports bras being pretty snug, even if they don’t give you a lot of lift. The Fruit of the Loom front-closure sports bra seemed fantastic.
You get three bras for less than $30, and they come in a bunch of great colors. The front-closing clasp is a lot more secure on these bras. I didn’t have nightmares about flashing the mailman when I bent over to sign for a parcel. But the closure is pretty hard to hook.
My hands aren’t what they used to be, and trying to line up those little hooks first thing in the morning was frustrating. I nearly gave up and went braless. Support-wise, this bra is fine for lounging. I’d say it’s a good comfort bra for mature women if you’re just sitting at home.
Still, don’t expect to be able to actually work out in it, or go for a jog with your four-legged friend without dealing with too much bounce and not enough structure.
Attempt Number 3: Glamorise Women’s MagicLift Bra
★★★☆☆
A friend recommended the Glamorise MagicLift Bra to me. She said it was one of the few wireless, front-closure bras that actually worked for her larger bust. That was good news for me (since I’m a size 38DDD). The bad news was that Glamorise doesn’t seem to do triple-letter sizes, so I had to settle for an E and hope for the best.
All around, I liked this bra a lot more than the first two. It gives you a little lift and shape, without the wire, thanks to the cushioned band around the bust. I also liked the “posture improving” back panel.
The front closure, again, is pretty secure, but quite difficult to fasten when I’m having a bad pain day. The biggest problem with this bra though was the scratchy material. The fabric doesn’t really feel soft or breathable. You don’t just forget you’re wearing it after a few hours.
I also found the shoulder straps to be a little annoying. I had to tweak and re-adjust them quite a few times throughout the day.
Attempt Number 4: AnaOna Rora Pocketed Front Closure Bra
★★★★☆
At this point, I went back to the “adaptive bras” route, hoping to find something that offered a bit more comfort. AnaOna is a company a friend of mine recommended after her lumpectomy. She said that the bras are incredibly comfortable, and easy to wear.
Even though I hadn’t had breast surgery, I decided to give the Rora Pocketed front closure bra a try. I didn’t need to take advantage of the extra features for breast cancer survivors, but I still found this bra to be incredibly comfortable. It has a great front-closing design, a wide back panel for extra support, and super soft fabric.
The front closure is still a little tricky, because it relies on clips, rather than buttons, but once it’s on, this is one of the most comfortable wireless bras I’ve tried. The downside is that it is pretty pricey, so it’s probably not going to be the right option for everyone.
Attempt Number 5: Liberare’s Smooth-On T-Shirt Bra
★★★★☆
Liberare really changed how I think about bras forever. I stumbled onto them after reading an article on Vogue, and I’ve never looked back. Since I have a larger bust, I instantly went for their “fuller figure” bra option – the Smooth-On T-Shirt Bra.
Let me tell you, this almost instantly became my favorite bra of all time. It really does check so many boxes. You get a decent level of support from the molded cups, lots of back and side coverage, and a sleek silhouette that looks great under any outfit.
The really revolutionary thing is the front closure, which uses magnets to help guide the clips into place, so you’re not left tugging and struggling. You even get handy finger loops – fantastic if you suffer from arthritis like me.
I absolutely love this bra – it’s perfect for women with larger busts, and it’s great for wire-free support. My only caveat would be that it may be a little too structured for some women in search of constant day and night comfort.
My Winner: The Liberare Everyday Easy-On Bra
★★★★★

After testing quite a few different options, Liberare really stood out in my mind. I decided to go back and try another one of their best-sellers, the “Everyday Easy-On Bra”.
Just like the Comfort Sculpt, this bra is truly incredible. You still get that fantastic magnetic front closure I mentioned above, and the helpful finger loops. There are adjustable shoulder straps, and a back adjuster – great for when you’re having bloating days.
Plus, the soft, breathable material feels absolutely incredibly. I can wear this bra all day and night without feeling restricted at all. It also comes in a huge range of sizes. That means I’ve been able to buy it as a gift for a handful of friends and relatives too.
If you’re looking for the all-around best wireless front closure bra, it’s really impossible to go wrong with the Everyday Easy-On from Liberare – at least, in my humble opinion.
I just love this showing how it works!
Comfort is a Necessity, Not a Luxury
I used to think being uncomfortable in a bra was just part of life, especially at my age. But after putting some of the best wireless front closure bras to the test – particularly the ones I tried from Liberare, I’ve changed my mind.
Comfort, support, and simplicity don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Even if you’re not suffering from arthritis or shoulder issues like me, and you just want something that’s easier to get on and off each day – Liberare’s bras will change your world.
Trust me, give these bras a try. You’ve got better things to do than wrestle with your underwear.
